The Jebel Akhdar Mountains is a mountain range approximately 80 km long and 32 km wide, that is part of the Hajar Mountains in Ad Dakhiliyah Governorate of Oman. It rises to a height of 3,018 m and encompasses the Saiq Plateau at 2,000 m above sea level.
Winter (October to March): The best time to visit Jebel Akhdar. The weather is cool and pleasant (20–25°C), perfect for hiking and exploring the mountain landscapes.
Summer (April to September): The temperatures can get quite hot (above 30°C) in the lower areas, but the higher elevations remain cooler. It's still a good time to visit for those who enjoy summer hiking in a cooler climate.
By Car:
Jebel Akhdar is easily accessible from Muscat (about 2-3 hours, 150–180 km) via a scenic drive. The road leading to the mountain is well-paved but steep and winding, so a 4x4 vehicle is recommended for the journey.
4x4 vehicles are required for the drive up to the summit, as the roads are steep and rugged in some parts.
